The activities during the transnational meeting of our project “Every student is important” of the European programme “Erasmus +” were organized by the Lithuanian Team. Two teachers from each partner school took part in the meeting. We had a great time in Vilnius.
On Monday, May 15, the meeting began with welcome ceremony organized by the students of the school. The partners enjoyed our students‘dances and songs singing and dancing all together. We had a tour around the school; the quests visited classes and presented their country, the school and its activities. Afterwards, the partners had a guided walking tour of Vilnius Old Town – the oldest part of Vilnius. The participants had the opportunity to visit the most beautiful architectural masterpieces, including Vilnius University and the Bell Tower, St. Peter and St. Pauls` church, the Roman Catholic St. Anne’s Church and etc. We ended the day with dinner in the Vilnius Television Tower.
On Tuesday, May 16, in the morning the partners met with the students. The students were happy to meet them. They prepared some small gifts for the quests. Later the partners visited Vilnius City Municipality where City Councillor held the seminar and presented educational system in Lithuania to the project partners.
The third work day, May 17, took place in Trakai – beautiful resort town, encircled by the lakes and located 28 km from Vilnius. The partners visited the medieval gothic style castle built on a island in the middle of the lake, home for history museum. They enjoyed a boat trip on Lake Galve breaking away from the hustle and bustle of the city. While sailing, they saw the most beautiful sights of this unique spot of Lithuania: Trakai castle and Užutrakis estate. The participants had a great time while enjoying the beautiful scenery. In the second part of the day all project partners participated at a workshop called “ Karaite culinary heritage“. The quests had a chance to taste the national karaites dishes (the most popular is kybyn – a small pasty stuffed with minced meat) at the Karaime Restaurant. They not only learnt how to make themselves real karaites dish, but also got acquainted with the culture, customs and traditions of this a small nation.
On Thursday, May 18, our participants enjoyed participating at a workshop called “Creation of therapeutic cards”, which was organized by the Lithuanian partners. Therapeutic cards opened a window into a person’s inner world; associative reactions to the illustrated cards made it possible to reflect upon a person‘s memories, to recall repressed experiences, and to release blocked feelings. The partners got acquainted with this method, which is a good way to stimulate conversation and make it easier and more comfortable for children and adolescents to communicate difficult or confusing feelings and thoughts. Afterwards, the quests enjoyed the visit to Vilnius University, one of the oldest universities in Central Europe.
Finally, on Friday, May 19, we began the morning with Final Project Meeting at school, we discussed important issues regarding the implementation and development of our project activities, planned the next project activities. Later we visited the Cathedral of Vilnius, the main Roman Catholic Cathedral of Lithuania and the heart of Catholic spiritual life in Lithuania. We ended the project meeting with a farewell dinner.
